After undergoing surgery to have his spleen removed at UIC Medical Center with the DaVinci Robotic Surgical System, a 49-year-old man suffered two puncture holes in an organ several inches away from the spleen due to surgeon error. As a result, our client suffered severe infection that remained undiagnosed for many days and eventually his death. Just a few days later, the woman died from advanced coronary artery disease. When the defense refused to meet Mr. McNabola’s settlement demand of $1 million or make any settlement offer, the case went to trial and resulted in a much higher verdict.
